Dessert at Plume at The Jefferson Hotel

One of the most beautiful and decadent dining experiences you will have in Washington, DC is at Plume, the Michelin-Starred restaurant at the iconic The Jefferson Hotel. I recall my first dining experience at Plume four years ago. I was there for a business lunch. As I walked into its dazzling dining room, I predicted it was going to be a fantastic experience. I was not wrong. Fast forward a few years later, and a Michelin-Star to support what we already knew, Plume is still as fantastic. All about it…

The Atmosphere

Whether it is dinner or lunch at Plume, expect to see movers and shakers of DC dining at this treasured spot. During our most recent dining adventure, we witnessed everything from business dinners to a romantic encounter. The intricate silver chandeliers bring light to the classically decorated dining room. At our table, there were fresh flowers and of course, a brass sculpture of a Quill.

The Service

Whether you are having lunch, dinner, or a nightcap at their bar, Quill, one thing is guaranteed: impeccable service. Our server knew every little detail of the menu and confidently shared which wine pairing suited each course best. I left it up to him to decide what I wanted to eat and was satisfied with each course that made our table.

The Food

During dinner service, you can choose from a Prix Fixe menu or a tasting menu. We opted for the prix fixe menu. I started my meal with an appetizer scallops, followed by beef medallions and ended with a  chocolate, banana bread and meringue dessert. Although all courses were to my satisfaction, the most memorable part were the seared scallops with saffron and citrus salad. The delicate presentation, quality of the mostly local sourced ingredients, and creativity of the menu is worth the $102 price tag. The hardest part is choosing what you want to order.

Nightcap at Quill

Save some room for a drink (or two) at Quill, the bar at The Jefferson Hotel. It doesn’t matter when I go to Quill, there is a lively scene and there are interesting characters at the bar. Their cocktail menu strikes the perfect balance of the classic cocktails like an old-fashioned to more creative cocktails such as the matcha infused cherry blossom gin cocktail.
