I recently had the chance to escape the Washington, DC cold for a press trip in Phoenix, Arizona. I decided to stay a few days longer in the sunny desert after my commitments in order to unwind. The Arizona Biltmore Hotel was the perfect place to do so. With its perfectly manicured grounds, distinct architecture, and gorgeous pool, it’s an oasis in the desert. All about my two-day stay at the property:
The scene: Think casual luxury. I love a luxury property where there’s an attention to detail, great service, and it also makes you feel welcome. The unique architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright makes the resort such a unique space. The hotel was undergoing a renovation upon arrival and there was a makeshift check-in desk outside. The staff looked happy and relaxed and there was a table with water and snacks.
The Location: The Arizona Biltmore Hotel is only a 20-minute drive to/from Phoenix Airport. After a fast paced week in Phoenix, I decided to stay in at the hotel, relax, and catch-up with work. However, I did take the hotel’s shuttle to the Biltmore Fashion Park with a selection of high-end shops. Although I was not on a shopping mission, I enjoyed walking around the outdoor shopping area. Favorite part: the Phoenix Humane Society Petique. I got to cuddle with some very cute and adoptable pups. Too bad I couldn’t bring any home!
The Room: The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with neutral tones with blue accents. I enjoyed the small patio right outside my room. Highlight: the room also had Ferragamo toiletries! Love the scent of the body lotion.
The Food: Come for the food. Full stop. Given I barely left the hotel, I got to try breakfast, lunch and dinner! We (my friend K and I) arrived just in time for brunch at Wright’s at Biltmore Restaurant. If you are anywhere near the Arizona Biltmore Hotel you NEED to head to their Sunday brunch. There’s a cold buffet with freshly shucked oysters, mussels, salads, and gorgeous desserts. Additionally, you have the option to choose a variety of hot dishes, we loved the eggs Benedict and the rosemary waffles. Delicious!
My local friends joined me for dinner at Wright’s on my last night at the hotel. The menu can be described as refined classics. I had the lamb chop with brie polenta which was exquisite. Make room for dessert: the soufflé is not only photo perfect as the rich vanilla sauce is poured at the table but the taste lives up to its expectations.
The Spa: I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the spa facilities as it seemed a bit outdated compared to the beautiful pool area. However, the hotel is undergoing a renovation, and the spa is part of that endeavor. Facilities aside… I had the most glorious massage and the staff is very friendly.
The Verdict: From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was especially taken by the staff at the lounge. I had my breakfast there every day and the whole staff was filled with smiles. Those are the little things that make a stay memorable. If looking for a luxury escape in Phoenix, The Arizona Biltmore Hotel is a great choice. Every little detail makes it difficult to leave the property. What’s your favorite Arizona luxury escape?
